The evolution of PCL’s Dial Handheld Tyre Inflators
PCL has been designing and manufacturing handheld tyre inflators since the first Vertex Linear Tyre Inflator (MK2) in 1945. PCL continued to develop their range of tyre inflation equipment and today the range features linear and dial analogue gauges, as well as digital.
On the 60 year anniversary of PCL’s first handheld dial tyre inflator, we explore the evolution of our dial anaologue gauges.

The journey begins with the Vertex air line gauge, better known as the MK2. Designed around the end of the Second World War in 1945, the MK2 was highly popular in garages and service stations for many years. PCL prepares response to calls for safe, fast & accurate tyre inflation
at The Emergency Services Show, NEC, Birmingham 19th-20th September

To celebrate 85 years of developing trailblazing products for global markets, directors and staff from Sheffield-based pneumatics expert PCL got on their bikes to raise over £3,000 and counting for the NSPCC.
The challenge was to cycle a 500km relay in just 90 minutes and the team clocked up an impressive 609km within the timeframe – more than tripling their initial fundraising target of £1,000 in the process.
So far, the JustGiving page has raised £3,755, with donations still coming in for the team’s celebratory ride for the UK’s leading children’s charity.

To celebrate our 85th anniversary and to coincide with the launch of our fantastic new Bicycle Inflation Station developed in association with Sheffield Hallam University, on Tuesday 4th July 2023 a team of our directors and staff will attempt to cycle a 500-kilometre relay in just 90 minutes. The ride will take place at the Rother Valley Country Park and will raise money for the NSPCC

Gearing up to take the lead on business development in the South of England is PCL’s new Area Sales Manager Michelle Foord.
With a background in manufacturing, Michelle has a proven track record of building customer relationships within the railway and automotive industries.
Her appointment came just in time for her to join PCL’s expert team at Automechanika 2023, where she took the opportunity to meet as many industry contacts as possible.
